‘... to be without the pelt (sealskin) causes a woman to pursue what she thinks she should do, rather than what she truly wishes… in a world that values driven women who go, go, go, the stealing of soulskins is very easy.’
Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves
A Chairde, Friends,
I know diaries are filling up with the bustle of festivities, and while this may be another date for your calendar, it’s an invitation into a gentle space, a temenos, a sacred enclosure to come back to yourself, resource yourself, and explore what a revitalising selkie sealskin might feel like on your body. Yes, you guessed it - our next Full Moon Fairytale Céilí will explore the theme of the selkie, inviting in the maighdean mara and the murúch from the Irish tradition, three sea maidens forming a triple goddess of the sea.
We gather under the Full Moon in Gemini on Tuesday, 17th December, 20:00-21:15 Irish Time. This will be recorded if you cannot make it live. It’s also an experience you can swim back to over the New Year.
What will we be doing?
Storytelling:
Discover (within yourself) how tales of these shapeshifting sea maidens can act as a guide back to the wild, instinctual feminine.
And...
Movement:
Let the story’s symbols and images flow through you in a guided movement practice to unlock hidden insights. Where is your sealskin? Are you wearing it? How might you tend to it? How might you reclaim it?
This will be an experience of soul meets body. Move between worlds like the selkie herself, between psyche (soul) through storytelling and soma (body) through movement, revealing how this folktale speaks to your unique inner landscape at this time.
