A Chairde,
For this month's Celtic Creatives Toolkit, I share a practice with you centred on gratitude—as you'll see, you yourself are part of my gratitude ritual. While gratitude may be bandied about in the wellness industry these days and I'll admit it has instigated the odd eye-roll or two from me at times, it is worthy of that fanfare as studies have shown how practising gratitude can improve our happiness, sense of fulfilment in life, and overall well-being.
A Movement of Will
The modern Irish word for gratitude, buÃochas, derives from the Old Irish, buide, which encompasses the sense of ‘goodwill’. These linguistic roots suggest that the act involves a movement of the will, where the giver of gratitude consciously chooses to infuse goodness into the life of the receiver of their gratitude.
