Hello lovelies,
The first-ever creative or mythic ancestor profile that I shared here on Substack was about Brigid in March 2024. When I was feeling into who would like to receive some space at this threshold time of Imbolc, surprise, surprise, it was Brigid who came a-knocking with more to share, so here we are with Brigid: The Sequel. She deserves it (and demands it, lol). She is a triple goddess so I feel we might be back here again come Imbolc 2026.
In our first exploration of Brigid, linked below, we touched on themes of:
Brigid as a Goddess of Creativity
Brigid as a Tribal Daughter
Brigid as a Sacred Keener
Brigid as a Soul Maker
Brigid as a Time Changer
Brigid, Goddess & Matron Saint
Brigid is one of the most well-known of the Celtic goddesses with Indo-European roots. She goes by many names like Bríd (“Breej”) in Ireland, Bride in Scotland, Brigantia in Britain, and even has nicknames in Ireland like Biddy or Bridie she is so ingrained in folk memory and culture. Her name means “High One” or “Exalted One”.
So let’s continue... Below, I draw on two important Brigid threads: her association with the elements of fire and water.
